8 of the world's 10 highest mountains are in Nepal Two Valleys, Two Worlds
Upper Mustang was the bed of an ocean. The plates closed, the seabed rose four kilometres into the sky, and the wind has been carving it ever since into red cliffs, caves and a walled city at the end of the road. It stayed shut to outsiders until 1992 and never quite caught up with the rest of us. You do not look at the past here. You ride into it.
Manang lies on the far side of the eight-thousanders. The clouds break against the Annapurnas and stop, so the sky above the valley holds all day: a turquoise glacier lake, pine forest, apple orchards, stone villages turned to the sun, and a wall of ice standing over all of it.
We take care of the permits, the fuel, the punctures, the altitude and the hotels. You just ride.
